The competition for the National Gallery of Foreign Art in Sofia (referred to
by local media as the “Bulgarian Louvre”) required a radical re-development
of the main building block. The design included the re-organisation of the
three buildings and an internal and external public art court to optimise the
available space, providing not only an extension to the exhibition area on the
lower level, but also creating new art depositories, archives and administration areas.
