Sited in the new district of the Eaux-Vives railway station, the desire for the
“Nouvelle Comédie de Genève” theatre was to go beyond simply being a place where
artists and the public meet, to creating a space of dynamism and vitality for
everyday interactions in the creation of productions. The unique building
profile asserts a strong identity into the urban fabric, and the public space
“esplanade” penetrates into the theatre, dissolving boundaries between the
“activities of the theatre” and the “activities of the city”.
